Welcome! My hope is that you’ll learn more about me as a person and as a singer. Now, where to begin? My name is Dezirae, I have been singing since I was 4 years old and the fist full length song I ever learned was “Colors of the Wind” from Walt Disney’s film “Pocahontas”. I’m remember so clearly the day my dad came to my bedroom asking me to turn down my stereo. I informed him that I wasn’t listening to music, but that I was singing. Naturally, my father didn’t believe me and went even as far to make me prove it. The rest they say is history. I haven’t stopped singing since and as the Lord allows I will continue to do so. I have been blessed with many opportunities to showcase my talent and more importantly bless others with my singing.

The first time I was able to use my gift was during my elementary school years. During that time I learned a new word – “lip syncing”- and people would often comment on how beautifully I lip synced for my age and, not knowing any better, I would merely say thank you and go on my merry way feeling very confused.  Eventually, I asked my dad what it meant and he told me it was a great compliment. I remember feeling so relieved when he told me that. I didn’t know if I was suppose to be flattered or insulted.

As you can probably guess Disney® songs are among some of my favorites, yet over the years my taste in music has matured as well as my repertoire. Thanks to my vocal coach, Bill Weiser, who challenges me and pushes me into more and more diverse generas, I have found more confidence in my singing abilities and continue to grow vocally. A large part of my inspiration for singing has come from other singers like my older sister Raquel, Julie Andrews, Jodi Benson, Andre Bocelli, Josh Groban, and from children of all ages who have a genuine love and enthusiasm for singing.

Like most people, my taste in music has been greatly shaped by the music I listened to while growing up. For instance the oldies; you may think 50’s and 60’s and that would be within the realm, but I take it back even further. Barber Shop Quartet,Big Band, Swing, Classical, Worship -I love it all! I honestly believe that music is a dimension of power that goes unrecognized. It can inspire us, motivate us, and bring change to every day life. It is for that reason that I’m not content to just listen to music; I want to be moved by music. It is also for this same reason that I am carefully selective about what I sing, what I listen to and how much.

From singing the National Anthem in New York, or at a stock car dirt track, to your special occasion, please consider me though I do ask that all potential employers keep this in mind; I love Jesus so there are some events that just will not work for me or you. Overall, I am available to sing for most venues currently on the West Coast and I hope in the future to sing not just in this nation, but nations across the world.

Thank you so much for taking your time to get to know me.
